Signs of pneumonia as dyspnea

Viral pneumonia can be caused by influenzavirus, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and theherpes or varicella viruses, including those that cause the common cold (parainfluenza and adenoviruses). When the alveoli don’t work efficiently, your lungs are less able to extract oxygen from the air and this causes the feeling of being short of breath (dyspnea), which is one of the most common signs of pneumonia. Some cases of pneumonia are contracted by breathing in small droplets that contain the organisms that can cause pneumonia.
The pneumococcal vaccine is the only way to prevent getting pneumococcal pneumonia. Risk factors for infection depend on the organism involved. Pneumonia is characterized by inflammation of the alveoli and terminal airspaces in response to invasion by an infectious agent introduced into the lungs through hematogenous spread or inhalation.
