When the appendix is blocked, it becomes inflamed and results in a condition termed appendicitis. The invasion of bacteria or other microorganism are the appendicitis causes. Pain starts mid-abdomen, and except in children below 3 years, tends to localize in the right iliac fossa in a few hours. Appendicitis usually is suspected on the basis of a patient’s history and physical examination.
Appendicitis usually happens after an infection in the digestive tract, or when the tube connecting the large intestine and appendix is blocked by trapped feces or food. the differential diagnosis of appendicitis is often a clinical challenge because appendicitis can mimic several abdominal conditions. A person with appendicitis will not feel very hungry and might have a slight fever.
